šŸ’„ Gundam TCG Launch Week: How Sealed Format Works (and How to Win)

The Gundam TCG is officially launching—and if you're cracking packs this week or heading to a local event, you're probably staring at your pile of pulls thinking... "Wait, how do I build a deck from this?"

Don’t worry—we’ve got you.

This quick guide breaks down the two sealed formats you’ll encounter and dives deeper into the most common one: the 30-card booster-only format. Whether you’re brand-new or a seasoned TCG player, this one’s for you.

šŸŽ² Two Sealed Formats: Know the Rules Before You Build

1ļøāƒ£ Booster-Only Sealed

  • Open 4 booster packs

  • Build a 30-card deck

  • No color restrictions

  • You can run any number of copies of the same card

This is fast, aggressive, and perfect for launch events—like the one I’ll be at on July 28th at Lone Star Pack Breaks in Texas!

2ļøāƒ£ Starter Deck + Booster Sealed

  • Open 1 Starter Deck + 4 booster packs

  • Build a 50-card deck

  • Also has no color restrictions

  • Again, you can run as many copies of a card as you want

This format feels more like constructed, but most local events will run the 30-card version, so let’s go deeper on that.

āš™ļø 30-Card Sealed: Build Smart, Not Big

Here’s the key: 30 cards means every card counts.

You’re not just tossing in your strongest units. You need to:

  • Play cards that curve out well

  • Include early plays, not just flashy 6-cost finishers

  • Look for synergy, not just raw power

Too many new players make the mistake of going ā€œbig or bustā€ā€”but in a small deck, clunky cards stall your whole game. You want:

  • 1–3 cost units to open strong

  • A few 4–5 cost threats to control midgame

  • One or two heavy-hitters if the game goes long

Think of it like assembling a mobile suit squad—every unit has to pull its weight.

🧠 Keywords That Matter in Sealed

These 6 keywords appear across many cards—and if you understand how they work, you can build around them and win games other players throw away.

šŸ”§ <Repair>

At the end of your turn, damaged units heal. Great for board control and grinding out value.

šŸ’„ <Breach>

Deal extra damage to your opponent’s shield zone when you destroy a unit in battle. Great for applying pressure fast.

šŸ› ļø <Support>

Rest this unit during your main phase to give AP to another friendly unit. Best used with units that want to attack right away.

šŸ›”ļø <Blocker>

Redirect an enemy attack to this unit. Critical for protecting key threats or your base.

āš”ļø <First Strike>

Deal damage before the opponent during battle. Amazing for trading up and keeping your board intact.

āœˆļø <High-Maneuver>

Bypass <Blocker> units while attacking. Use it to target backline threats or finish off bases.

🧩 Pro Tip: If you pull multiple cards with synergy between <Support> and <First Strike>, that combo can win you games outright.
