Jango Tarkin Town Upgrade Guide
Star Wars Unlimited
Welcome back to TCG HQ! Today, we’re revisiting the Jango Fett budget deck, also known as the Padawan-level build. If you missed the first article, this $35 deck is all about using Jango’s ability to exhaust your opponent’s units while establishing a strong space presence and pushing damage. It’s a fantastic entry point into Star Wars Unlimited, but today, we’re leveling it up! I’ll show you how to upgrade this deck to Jedi and Master Jedi tiers to make it even more competitive. Let’s dive in!

JEDI TIER UPGRADE
First, let’s move to the Jedi tier upgrade. We’re making a small but impactful change:
Remove 1 Heavy Persuader Tank
Add 1 Cad Bane
This upgrade brings the deck price to $60. Adding Cad Bane keeps the deck’s game plan intact—pushing damage while adding a crucial insurance policy. With Cad Bane, you can capture up to three of your opponent’s units, clearing the way to push damage and close out the game. It’s a great addition that adds versatility and resilience to the deck
MASTER JEDI TIER UPGRADE
Now, for those who want to unlock the full potential of this deck, we have the Master Jedi tier. Here’s what we’re changing:
Remove 1 Punishing One
Remove 3 TIE/ln Tie Fighters
Remove 2 Waylay
Add 3 Kylo's TIE Silencers
Add 1 Swoop Down
Add 2 Change of Heart
These upgrades bring the deck price to $140.
The addition of Kylo's TIE Silencer lets you push damage right out of the gate with its 3/2 stats as a turn-one play. Its value increases further if it gets discarded since you can play it from the graveyard, ensuring consistent pressure throughout the game.
Change of Heart adds a new dimension to the deck, making it effective against midrange and control strategies. These decks often rely on big units, and with Change of Heart, you can take control of one of their key pieces at the right moment, shifting the momentum in your favor. This card shines when you have initiative, giving you the edge to win the game.
GAME PLAN BY TIER
Now, let’s go over the game plan for each tier:
Padawan Level: Focus on early-game board control using ISB Agent and Tarkin Town. Build your space presence and leverage Jango’s ability to exhaust key units while pushing consistent damage. Use events like Surprise Strike and Breaking In to bypass defenses and keep up the pressure.
Jedi Level: With Cad Bane in the deck, you now have an added layer of control. Look for opportunities to use Cad Bane’s ability to capture multiple enemy units, especially in the mid-game when your opponent starts deploying bigger threats. This opens up a clear path for your other units to hit the base for significant damage.
Master Jedi Level: Start with Kylo’s TIE Silencer as a turn-one play to set the tone. If it gets discarded, bring it back from the graveyard for additional value. In the late game, use Change of Heart to swing the tempo in your favor by taking control of a critical enemy unit to secure the win. The Master Jedi tier excels at both early aggression and late-game power, making it highly versatile against various matchups.
And that wraps up our breakdown of the Jango Fett deck upgrades! Whether you’re sticking with the Padawan-level build or taking it to Jedi or Master Jedi levels, this deck is a blast to play and has the tools to dominate any game.
Let me know in the comments which tier you’re excited to try out, or if you have any other upgrade ideas! And as always, may the Force—or in this case, the Mandalorian—be with you!
