Master the Quilan Tarkin Town Budget Deck

Welcome back, TCG Squad! Today, we’re diving into the Quilan Tarkin Town budget deck—a powerful aggro/tempo deck that showcases Quilan Vos’s unique abilities to damage your opponent’s units while your own units relentlessly push for damage.

Quilan is a Deploy 5 Leader with a solid 3 attack and 7 defense, making him a fantastic tempo enabler. If you’re looking for a deck that hits hard, costs around $40, and helps keep control of the board, this one’s for you!

Deck Overview

Let’s revisit what makes Quilan such a powerful leader:

  • Leader Side Ability:
    “When you play a unit: You may exhaust this leader. If you do, deal 1 damage to an enemy unit that costs the same as the played unit.”

Leader Unit Side Ability:
“When you play a unit: If you do, deal 1 damage to an enemy unit that costs the same or less as the played unit.”

These abilities allow you to efficiently remove enemy units while maintaining board presence. On the Leader Unit side, you gain even more flexibility, as you can target enemy units of the same or lower cost—a key advantage in this deck’s tempo strategy.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Here are some tips and tricks to master Quilan Tarkin Town:

  1. Remember, Quilan’s Leader Unit side allows you to ping an opponent’s unit with the same cost or lower. That lower part is crucial—don’t overlook it!

  2. Play Tarkin Town early. Don’t wait for the ‘perfect time’—you want to start taking out threats as soon as possible.

  3. You don’t always have to resource Cassian Andor. He’s an amazing 3-cost unit who can hold his own on the battlefield.

  4. Use Plo Koon to threaten or outright eliminate your opponent’s leader.

  5. Han Solo is fantastic for taking out larger threats with his ambush ability.

  6. Events like Force Throw and Spark of Rebellion are excellent for discarding your opponent’s cards and disrupting their strategy.

GAMEPLAY WALKTHROUGH

Let’s walk through the first six turns to show how this deck plays out:

Turn 1:

  1. Resource Hotshot DL-44 Blaster.

  2. Play Sabine Wren for 2 resources.

  3. Use Quilan’s Leader side ability to ping your opponent’s 2-cost unit.

  4. Play Tarkin Town to finish off your opponent’s unit.

Turn 2:

  1. Attack with Sabine, dealing 3 base damage.

  2. Play Ezra Bridger.

  3. If your opponent played a 3-cost unit, use Quilan’s leader ability to ping it.

Turn 3:

  1. Use Force Throw to target and hopefully eliminate your opponent’s 3-cost unit.

  2. Play Red Three and ping with Quilan if applicable.

Turn 4:

  1. Attack with all your units.

  2. If your opponent deploys their leader, use Plo Koon to take them out.

  3. Use Quilan’s ability as needed.

  4. Deploy Quilan and attack their base for 3 damage.

Turn 5:

  1. Use Spark of Rebellion or Force Throw to control the board.

  2. Play Qi’Ra to prevent your opponent from deploying larger units.

  3. Keep attacking their base with your units. Remember, you’ve got Hotshot DL-44 in resources for a damage boost.

Turn 6:

  1. It’s time to finish the game. Push damage with your units.

  2. Use Han Solo to ambush threats and take them out with his Shoot First ability.

  3. Smuggle Cassian and Surprise strike to seal the game
