Top 15 Cards from the Galactic Championship Top 8
The dust has settled on the Galactic Championship, and after combing through all 8 of the Top 8 decklists… one thing is clear:
🔥 Fifteen cards showed up over and over again—and they weren’t just good… they were format-defining.
Whether you're grinding locals, prepping for a Sector Qualifier, or just theory-crafting your next big brew, these are the cards you need to have on your radar.
Let’s break them down—not by color, but by role—so you know which ones are removal, value engines, closers, or tech choices.
🟦 Efficient Removal (Tempo, Control, and 2-for-1s)
The removal suite that dominated Top 8 wasn’t just good—it was game-breaking.
Force Throw: Arguably the best card in the game. It was everywhere. The ability to remove any unit or even a leader—while discarding a card—makes it a staple in competitive Red decks.
Force Lightning: Once a forgotten Set 1 card, now back in force (pun intended) thanks to Legends of the Force. With Force units everywhere, this card is live more often than not—and it’s spiked in price accordingly.
Power of the Dark Side: Efficient, brutal, and clean. This 3-cost removal punishes lonely boards and forces opponents to sequence around it.
Fell the Dragon: A newer staple in Blue decks. Ideal for stabilizing mid-game turns or dealing with oversized units.
Grogu – Mysterious Child: Not removal in the traditional sense, but his ability to heal and reflect damage can devastate early units—especially when paired with Tarkin Town.
Secretive Sage: A 2/2 with shields that enables early pressure and survives long enough to demand an answer. Throw a 3-cost upgrade on this card and it snowballs quickly.
Karis: Functions as a pseudo-removal card—she trades up and then finishes another low-health unit with her Force ability. Amazing 2-for-1 value.
🟨 Card Advantage & Filtering (Draw, Refill, and Recycle)
Resource advantage is how games are won—and these cards proved it.
Ki-Adi-Mundi: Possibly the strongest draw engine in the format. Multiple decks even paid a 2-resource penalty to splash him. If you see all three in one game, that’s six extra cards. Game-breaking.
Cham Syndulla: The perfect answer to resource-ramping control decks. Helps Aggression decks stabilize and catch up. Still a mainstay since his debut in Jump to Lightspeed.
🔴 Win Conditions / Closers (Finish the Fight)
These are the cards that ended games—or threatened to if left unchecked.
Anakin – Champion of Mortis: Played across multiple decks, including the winning Talzin list. Comboed with Ki-Adi-Mundi to trigger massive board swings. This is the legendary to own right now.
Krayt Dragon: A force of nature. Can swing games or set up devastating Force Throw combos. Also—neutral. So anyone can run it.
Hotshot DL-44 Blaster: The best upgrade in the game. Period. Being able to smuggle it out, swing immediately, and push base damage gives Heroic decks the reach they need. Won games in Top 8 on the spot.
Fallen Lightsaber: Still relevant despite the rise of Hotshot. Turns any modest unit (like Secretive Sage) into a base-pinging, lane-clearing threat.
🟩 Meta Tech & Flex Slots (Targeted Hate That Hit Hard)
Tech cards may not be flashy—but they win tournaments by covering bad matchups.
Bombing Run: This card crushed me personally. It’s a sideboard staple against Vader Space and even showed up in some main decks.
I got hit with this three times on Day 1—and it’s one of the reasons I didn’t make Day 2. Consider this your warning.
💬 Final Thoughts
These weren’t just “good” cards—they were the foundation of every Top 8 deck at the Galactic Championship.
So whether you’re crafting, trading, or tuning your next deck—these 15 cards are what you’ll be playing against (and should probably be playing with).
